(VEN) - On the morning of September 9, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, in association with the People's Committee of Ninh Thuan province and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), organized a meeting with the press to present the conference themed "Promoting investment in Ninh Thuan province."
This is a national-level conference that will be held to present the potential and advantages as well as the preferential investment policies of Ninh Thuan province. This will be a chance for domestic and foreign businesses and investors to meet, share experience and seek cooperation opportunities in this province.
The chairman of Ninh Thuan province's People's Committee, Nguyen Chi Dung, said that Ninh Thuan is a coastal province in the south-central region and it is located on the intersection of three lifelines: the north-south rail route, National Highway 1A, and Road 27 that leads to Da Lat (Lam Dong) and Dak Lak (Buon Ma Thuot). Ninh Thuan is 105km from the city of Nha Trang, 110km from Da Lat, 350km from Ho Chi Minh City and 1,382km from Hanoi. This province has great potential to develop the energy sector, the mining industry, tourism and agriculture. In the past years, however, Ninh Thuan encountered numerous difficulties in attracting investment from both domestic and foreign sources and therefore the socioeconomic growth rate of the province has been lower than that of other localities in the south-central region.
Investment promotion activities are believed to help Ninh Thuan attract more investment from domestic and foreign sources and create an impulse for socioeconomic development in the province. So, investment promotion will reduce the development gap between Ninh Thuan and other provinces/cities nationwide in general and those in the south-central region in particular, said Mr. Dung.
In the time to come, Ninh Thuan province will improve the investment and business environment to make it favorable and attractive to investors. The province will go alongside businesses throughout their investment process. In addition, Ninh Thuan will build a training center to provide highly qualified human resources. At the same time, the province will upgrade the infrastructure and make a clear development strategy - Mr. Dung added.
The Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) will be the main sponsor of the conference. Vietcombank is committed to facilitating investment projects in Ninh Thuan province by providing them with preferential loans and the best services.
Ninh Thuan province is calling for investment in 54 projects, including 18 industrial projects, 14 tourism projects, six urban development projects, and five industrial infrastructure construction projects. The remaining projects are in the fields of agriculture, trade and service, science and technology, health, education and training.
The above mentioned conference will be held in Phan Rang - Thap Cham, Ninh Thuan, on October 17 with about 400-500 attendants. State authorities and the leading economists of Vietnam and other countries will deliver speeches at the conference. Notably, this conference will coincide with two other events: 1) a seminar titled 'Energy and infrastructure development in the coastal areas of the south-central region: opportunities and challenges in the new period of time’, and 2) a forum to promote investment in agriculture, forestry and fishery in the coastal provinces of the south-central region (Phu Yen, Khanh Hoa, Ninh Thuan and Binh Thuan)./.
