Thủ tướng Phan Văn Khải và Thủ tướng Goh Chok Tong đã trao đổi một số định hướng lớn về chinh trị, an ninh và hợp tác kinh tế mang tính nền tảng cho quan hệ giữa hai nước trong thời gian tới. Hai bên cũng đã bàn về những phương hướng và biện pháp thúc đẩy hợp tác toàn diện trong các lĩnh vực kinh tế, giáo dục, khoa học kỹ thuật và văn hóa, đặc biệt là triển khai sáng kiến chung giữa hai nước về thu hút đầu tư từ nước thứ 3 vào Việt Nam và sang kiến về hợp tác xuất khẩu hàng hoá sang nước thứ 3.

Hiện Singapore là nhà đầu tư nước ngoài lớn nhất tại Việt Nam với tổng vốn đăng ký 7,8 tỉ USD. Kim ngạch buôn bán song phương năm 2003 đạt 3,7 tỉ USD. Trong khuôn khổ chuyến thăm của Thủ tướng Phan Văn Khải, nhiều hợp đồng kinh tế và thoả thuận giữa các doanh nghiệp hai nước đã được ký kết.

Trong buổi hội đàm với Chủ tịch Fidel Castro, Tổng bí thư Nông Đức Mạnh khẳng định ủng hộ và giúp đỡ Cuba luôn là lương tâm, trách nhiệm của Đảng và nhân dân Việt Nam và Việt Nam sẽ làm hết sức mình để vun đắp mối quan hệ Việt Nam-Cuba đời đời bền vững. Thay mặt Đảng , Nhà nước và nhân dân Việt Nam, Tổng bí thư lên án và đòi chấm rứt ngay những hành động bao vây cấm vận phi lý chống nhân dân Cuba.

Trước những khó khăn kinh tế của Cuba hiện nay, Việt Nam luôn luôn ở bên cạnh đảo quốc anh hùng. Đến nay Việt Nam đã ủng hộ Cuba 50.000 tấn gạo và nhiều hàng tiêu dùng cho nhân dân, sách vở cho học sinh. Nhân chuyến thăm này, đoàn đại biểu cấp cao Việt Nam cũng trao tượng trưng 650 bộ máy vi tính tặng Đảng Cộng sản và nhân dân Cuba - thể hiện tình đoàn kết thuỷ chung giữa những người anh em.

Hơn 30 năm cầm máy khởi đầu là phóng viên chiến trường Nam Bộ, và 22 năm làm phóng viên của Báo ảnh Việt Nam, chàng thư sinh Hà Nội năm nào nay thuộc lòng những nẻo đường đất nước, dạn dày thực tế, sức làm việc như càng trẻ và khoẻ hơn. Nhiều đề tài do anh thực hiện đều đặn xuất hiện trên Báo ảnh Việt Nam. Chất phóng sự trong ảnh của anh luôn được hoà nhập với tâm hồn và phong cách nghệ sĩ, và đó là cái riêng của Kim Sơn, làm nên giá trị cho các trang báo có ảnh của anh.

VII. English - Vietnamese Translation:

A little farther on, you will get to Ngoc (Jade) Stream right at the foot of Bo Um Mountain in Cam Luong Village (Cam Thuy District), a natural gift that will astonish you with its shoal of “holy fish” crowding a portion of the stream and swimming here and there. This is an exotic variety, similar to the carp, with a red tail, lips and ears and a longer, moss-coloured body. Be it the dry season or the rainy with heavy lowns flooding, the fish just wander round the entrance of the cave, never swimming with the current to the mouth of the river. They are quite friendly and they never swim away when seeing you but will play with you merrily.

Vietnam Pictorial’s correspondents, apart from engaging in journalist activities, have devoted their passion to taking artistic photographs. Many of them are members of the Vietnam Association of Photographic Artists (VAPA) and the International Federation of Photographic Artists (FIAP). In the 50th anniversary year of Vietnam Pictorial (VNP)- October 15, 1954- October 15, 2004- in the column “Photography” VNP introduces our readers to their typical works, and in this issue, focuses on Kim Son’s photographs.

Even though only its gate is left, you can still fancy the grandeur of this building of Vietnam’s grandfathers. The rocks, 4.5m in length, 1m in width, and 0.5m thick, square and smooth as glass, were cleverly put one on the other by the ancient craftsmen. It should be noted that the Ho Dynasty (1400-1407), was not a long reign in Vietnamese history, but historical records show that it was a period of very significant social reforms, when for the first time Vietnam experienced the circulation of paper currency instead of metal coins.

During the recent official visit to Singapore by Prime Minister Phan Van Khai, the two sides signed a joint declaration on comprehensive cooperation in the 21st century. This was a document of great significance to create a legal framework for promoting the comprehensive, durable and stable cooperative relationship between the two countries.
